DHL Supply Chain, the contract logistics specialist of DeutschePost DHL Group, has further expanded its Life Sciences & Healthcare(LSH) Campus in Florstadt near Frankfurt am Main, Germany. The newbranch adds a third, considerably-sized logistics center (32,000square meters) to the multi-user campus specializing inpharmaceutical and medical products. The new center is withinwalking distance of both the existing warehouse, which DHL hasoperated since 2015 for a leading pharmaceutical company, and asecond site that opened in January 2018 and serves variousprominent customers in the medical and healthcare sector.

The multi-user campus simultaneously offers space for variouscustomers requiring efficient logistics in Germany, Europe orworldwide. DHL provides single-source solutions in Florstadt tosuppliers of medical and pharmaceutical products – from customarystorage and order picking through value added services such askitting, labeling or sampling to highly complex and highlyautomated logistics solutions.

The site is registered in accordance with the German FederalImmission Control Act (BImSchG). A capacity of 10,000 palletlocations has been established in one dedicated section of thefacility. What’s more, different temperature-controlled zones –ambient, cooled and freezer areas for temperatures as low as minus20 degrees Celsius – are available around the clock. Clean roomscan also be set up if requested by the customer.

The multi-user campus in Florstadt is located about 35kilometers from the heart of the Frankfurt Rhine-Main economicregion and offers ideal access to Frankfurt Airport, DHL’s parceland Express network, and rail and highway networks.

Chief Executive Officer Rainer Haag believes that the launch ofthe new logistics center “represents a further important step onthe road to climate-neutrality for DHL Supply Chain’s sites.” Thebuilding was honored with the Gold Standard of the GermanSustainable Building Council (DGNB). It features a 750 kWpphotovoltaic system, heat pumps and a 320-square-meter solar airheating system that continuously supply the carbon-neutralwarehouse with environmentally friendly energy and a controlledclimate.

The campus in Florstadt also holds all major LSH certifications,such as GMP, GDP and ISO 13485, and keeps abreast of changingregulations.
