On February 1, 2023, DHL 2-Mann-Handling opened a new logisticssite in Landsberg (Saxony-Anhalt) to create additional capacitiesfor large and bulky goods such as furniture from major businesscustomers based in the region and in Eastern Europe. Across the newsite, which spans approximately 33,000 m2 and includes astorage area of around 12,100 m2, around 70 employees from the newcooperation partner Maintrans Solutions will work in a two-shiftsystem, processing up to 7,000 packaging units (colli) per day andpreparing them for delivery to end customers. In addition to thecentral multi-customer site in Ludwigsau, Landsberg is the secondhub for DHL 2-Mann-Handling, Deutsche Post DHL Group’s large andbulky goods specialist within the Post & Parcel Germanydivision.
“We have registered encouraging, double-digit percentage growthin the past two years,” says Beate Seeher, Managing Director at DHL2-Mann-Handling GmbH. “More and more customers are ordering goodssuch as furniture, washing machines or large TVs online, and weexpect this trend to continue. With its attractive location in theHalle (Saale), Leipzig and Bitterfeld-Wolfen tri-city area, our newlogistics site in Landsberg will enable us to manage theseadditional volumes with faster processing times, and thus providesthe foundation for further growth.”

DHL 2-Mann-Handling specializes in the transport and delivery oflarge and bulky goods and has a total of around 400 employees inGermany. Items are sent to more than 30 regional DHL transportpartners across Germany from the central hub in Ludwigsau and,effective immediately, the additional site in Landsberg. They arethen delivered to the end customer’s preferred delivery point at atime arranged in advance by telephone, including installation ifnecessary.
Due to its higher capacities and more attractive location, DHL2-Mann-Handling’s new logistics facility in Landsberg replaces theprevious hub operated with Metro Logistics in Reichenbach(Thuringia).
