Today SAF is one of the most effective ways todecarbonize the aviation industry, allowing for a reduction ofgreenhouse gas emissions by at least 80% compared to conventionalaviation fuel. The fuel itself is produced from waste sources, suchas used cooking oil and food waste. DHL follows hereby an insettingapproach, utilizing sustainable fuels to reduce emissions directlyat the source. Air carriers use sustainable biofuels on behalf ofDHL, leading to reductions in emissions. These emission reductionsare transferred to DHL, who then allocates them to the shippers inthe form of certificates.
