The rapid growth of e-commerce will continue to place higherdemands on logistics efficiency. The four new routes, relying onthe current operational advantages of FedEx, can better meet theneeds of customers for reliable transportation capacity and serviceimprovement, especially for e-commerce goods and heavy goods in theAsia Pacific region. In 2020 alone, the total online retail salesin the Asia Pacific region reached approximately $2.45 trillion,accounting for over 60% of global e-commerce sales. More than halfof online shoppers in the Asia Pacific region have engaged incross-border shopping. The Chinese market has shown enormous growthpotential. In the first half of 2021, China's gross domesticproduct (GDP) grew by over 12% year-on-year, and the total value ofimported and exported goods increased by 27% year-on-year. Amongthem, the import and export of cross-border e-commerce maintained astrong momentum, with a year-on-year growth of 28.6% in totalvalue.

Two trans Pacific routes travel back and forth five times aweek, both departing from FedEx's Asia Pacific hub located inGuangzhou. One of them stops in Anchorage, Alaska, USA and flies toOakland, USA; After stopping at Anchorage, the other route will flyto Indianapolis in the United States, then to Memphis in the UnitedStates, and return to Guangzhou after stopping at Anchorage andIncheon in South Korea. These two new routes have enhanced theconnection and capacity between the markets in South China, NorthAsia, and North America for customers
In addition, FedEx has added another route that flies weeklyfrom the FedEx Asia Pacific hub in Guangzhou and from the FedExNorth Pacific hub in Osaka, Japan to the FedEx Charles de Gaulleairport hub in Paris, France. This route operates 5 days a week,with two days departing from Guangzhou and three days departingfrom Kansai. With stable transportation capacity, it enhancesconnectivity with European regions for customers in China and theAsia Pacific region.

The Asia Pacific region is growing into a giant market, and itis expected that commodity exports will increase by 13%year-on-year in 2021, achieving a strong rebound. China's exportsare expected to increase by 32% year-on-year. Thanks to strongexport demand from its major trading partners China and the UnitedStates, major economies in Southeast Asia have also begun to showsigns of recovery and rebound.
