As India and its healthcare system face a surge in COVID-19infections nationwide, a subsidiary of FedEx (New York: FDX) andthe world's courier company FedEx are collaborating withorganizations around the world to provide critical medical suppliesand equipment in this crisis.
FedEx currently supports the transportation of over 25000 oxygenconcentrators and converters through strategic partnerships withthe United States and India, as well as an initiative by othermultinational corporations. As part of the group, FedEx shipped1000 critical oxygen concentrators to New Delhi on April 30th.
On May 8th, FedEx will donate a FedEx 777F charter plane totransport over 3400 oxygen concentrators, converters, and nearly265000 KN95 masks from New Jersey to Mumbai, India for DirectRelief. These supplies will eventually be transported to medicalinstitutions in Mumbai. In addition, FedEx is collaborating withcustomers and non-profit organizations to deliver hundreds of tonsof medical supplies and aid to India in the coming days andweeks.

FedEx is also a member of the Global Pandemic Response WorkingGroup, a public-private partnership organized by the AmericanChamber of Commerce and supported by the Business Roundtable,providing businesses with a unified platform to mobilize andprovide resources to assist in responding to COVID-19 in regionswith global demand. Raj Subramaniam, President and OperationsOfficer of FedEx, is one of the 17 members of the Working GroupSteering Committee.
"The devastating humanitarian crisis in India requires relieffrom around the world, and our mission is to provide the keyassistance needed to help alleviate suffering," said Subramaniam."Since the outbreak of the pandemic, we have been providing reliefon the front line and are now responding to the emergency situationin India. FedEx will continue to transport life-saving drugs,personal protective equipment, and other important supplies untilthe pandemic ends."
Since January 2020, FedEx has shipped over 10000 COVID-19humanitarian aid shipments. The company has also committed toproviding $4 million in cash and physical transportation support tohelp non-profit organizations, including Direct Relief andinternational medical teams, distribute COVID-19 vaccines tocommunities around the world to underserved populations.
