FedEx Express has completed the donation of two ATR 42 aircraftto the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport Fire Rescue Departmentin Spain. The aircraft, registered as EI-FXE and EI-FXA, arealready in place at the airport where the firefighters will carryout routine training practice using the two retired airframesdonated.
The donation of the two ATR 42 aircraft coincides with theaddition of new ATR 72-600F aircraft to the FedEx Express fleet. InNovember 2017, FedEx Express formalized the purchase of 30 newaircraft which introduce improved performance and efficiency to theFedEx Express fleet.
The initiative of donating aircraft at their end of their lifesupports the Reduce, Replace, Revolutionize approach FedEx appliesto sustainability. These two aircraft will go on to serve asvaluable educational and training resources and mark the 97th and98th aircraft donated by FedEx under this program since 2000.
