LONDON, Monday 09 January 2017—Volunteers from FedEx Express,the world’s largest express transportation company and a subsidiaryof FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX), dedicated 1,000 hours to charity andfundraising activities for Action for Children over the course of2016.
As part of FedEx Cares, the company’s global volunteerprogramme, more than 160 team members from the FedEx Express UKSales teams gave their time to support the UK’s most disadvantagedchildren and adults. With activities including painting, cleaningand gardening, team members rolled up their sleeves to brighten upand transform Action for Children facilities in Newcastle, Bristol,Worcester, Liverpool and Cambridge. A member of one of the Salesteams even became an independent visitor for Action for Children inthe UK, mentoring disadvantaged young children.
“We are proud and inspired by the team who have given up somuch of their own time to support such a worthwhile cause. We’reincredibly pleased to have reached our 1,000 hours target and welook forward to delivering hope to many more children and adults in2017,” said Neil Parlett, senior account executive at FedExExpress.
In addition, team members fundraised a total of £6,259 for thecharity through a series of activities, including completing thegruelling Three Peaks Challenge, cycling all the way from Brusselsto Amsterdam, completing the Worksop Halloween Half Marathon and‘sleeping rough’ for a night as part of ‘Byte Night’, the nationalsleep-out event.
