DHL Freight, one of the leading providers of road freightservices in Europe, is deploying 30 new trucks as part of the pilotphase of its driver recruitment initiative. These state-of-the-arttrucks, which are manufactured by MAN, have a total weight of 12tons, are equipped with a turning assistant to increase safety.Fifteen of the vehicles are also fitted with rooftop solar systemdeveloped by DHL’s start-up TRAILAR. The new vehicles will providedrivers with the latest life-saving equipment and provide DHLFreight with sufficient transport capacities during peak seasons –mainly on the first-mile and last-mile legs. DHL Freight’s driverrecruitment initiative is being piloted at five locations inGermany and has attracted 50 new drivers so far, with the overallaim to create up to 500 new jobs in Europe.
